The Gift

Listen to this poem read aloud: Your browser does not support the audio element. The Gift I do not know of lucky stones, Or of what import the stars may bear. All that I know, All that I need to know, Is that I believe in You! May this stone bring you fortune. May the stars guide you true. But all that I know, All that I need to know, Is that I believe in You! Copyright 2005 Jim Ivy

The Epicure

The Epicure A sip of this – a sip of that, A tongue, so delicate to please, Once tried to reach Eternity It’s pleasures to perceive. But once the road was taken, Through spoon and knife and fork, It’s belly became extended Like a walking, grunting pork! So when you tempt to waddle Round a table sure to please, Just remember that your middle May expand itself past ease! Copyright 2005 Jim Ivy

Sounds

Listen to this poem read aloud: Your browser does not support the audio element. I have heard the wind, On deep black nights of crystal stars, Whisper, whisper through the trees. The secret silence of a meadow As the snow sifts slowly, softly down. I’ve walked the shore And heard the sea surf singing. But most of all, the sound I love, Is that of children dreaming. Jazzman

Jazzman’s got his feelings, They come out through his horn. Music’s got it’s meanings Way before it’s born. If I weren’t a dreamer Don’t know what I’d do. Guess I’d hire a jazzman To play a song for you. I’d tell him how I love you, He’d know just what to do. He’d wrap my heart within that song And play it straight to you! Copyright 2005 Jim Ivy

Prelude

Listen to this poem read aloud: Your browser does not support the audio element. I have songs to sing to you And dreams I’d like to share, Thoughts that are too deep To pass without a care. I’ve lived with laughter, And with tears, And sung of both in time. I’d like to sing to you now, To offer you my rhyme. Copyright 2005 Jim Ivy
