The Long Lost Country Song

"Lives there a man, bereft of imagination and of stunted soul, who has never dreamt of writing a country song?" - Shakespeare

(That's Marvin Shakespeare. He lives down on 34th Street)

Of course not! So here is my country song:

Well, now I want to write a country song 'bout life the way it is,
'Bout all them women what done me wrong, and what it's like to be in show biz.
I've been looking for the words to use and a melody that'll fit the blues
But so far, friends, I'm telling you true, I ain't figured out just what to do.
...Maybe something like
Refrain:
Do-whack-a-doo whack-a-do whack-a-doo whack-a-doo, whack-a-do whack-a-doo whack-a-doo
Do-whack-a-doo whack-a-doo-doo-doo, whack-a-doo whack-a-doo, whack-a-doo.
Do-whack-a-do whack-a-doo doo doo, whack-a-doo whack-a-doo, whack-a-doo.
Do-Whack-a-doo whack-a-doo-doo-doo whack-a-doo whack-a-doo, whack-a-doo.

Well, as you can see that I had a case of lyrical constipation, combined with a very weak concept of country syncopation. So I asked myself, "What would Willie do in a similar situation?".  'Course we all know the answer to that!....

But never-the-less, I persevered and set about doing those things that I figured would improve or remove my country music disabilities. So before long...

Well, now I'm sittin' in a country bar, Drinkin' lots of cold Lone Star,
Strummin' on my old guitar, wondering what the music's for.
Tryin' to end my lyrical constipation, find some country syncopation,
There's some female inspiration at the other end of the bar:
... and she sang...

Refrain

And right then and there, like a shard of light straight to my eyeball, I realized that my words weren't half as important as I had thought they were. Suddenly, if not immediately, that old country syncopation picked me up, spun me around, and set me on the path to country music immortality!

Now you can see I've come pretty far, everyone says I'm a country star.
Fancy boots and a new guitar even got myself a big Cadillac car.
You'll be looking at your old TV, and all you'll see is Willie and me.
We'll be singing all of your favorite songs until it's time for the finally:

... Then we'll sing...

Refrain
Refrain

That's All Folks!
